Care Factor Psychological Safety & Wellbeing Program

At the very heart of the Care Factor approach is the vision of increasing Psychological Safety, Well Being and creating mentally healthy workplaces.  Where psychological safety is high, people are more likely to speak up, admit mistakes and ask for help when needed.  Stress levels are reduced, as are associated sick leave, burnout and staff turnover.  Moreover, increased psychological safety promotes higher trust levels and enables mental health challenges to be more readily discussed.

The benefits of creating psychological safety extend beyond the spheres of health, safety and wellness, with (tech giant) Google recently finding (at the end of a massive four year study into team performance) that psychological safety is the number one predictor of team success.

GYST Consulting’s Care Factor Programs are evidence-based workshops, delivered by highly qualified and experienced psychologists and specifically designed to help leaders create high levels of psychological safety within themselves and their teams.

Care Factor (Leaders and Supervisors) Well Being Workshops

The 2-day program focuses on key drivers of psychological safety and covers elements including:

  • Moving past the stigma and myths associated with mental health issues
  • Leading from values and creating trust
  • Communication and influencing skills
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Boundary setting
  • Creating accountability and intrinsic motivation
  • Developing an Internally-Locussed (“Above the Line”) organisation
  • Resilience and cognitive re-framing skills
  • Mindfulness and other tools for managing stress

Care Factor (Teams) Well Being Workshops

The 1-day Teams Wellbeing Workshop focuses on many of the above elements with a strong emphasis on skill development and practice.  The benefits of this highly practical session extend beyond the workplace, with participants able to apply their new skill sets at home and in family and social situations.

Care Factor Coaching

During the diagnostic and/or workshop phases, our clients frequently identify individual, group and organisational opportunities for development.  It is through effective coaching - group or individual - that these new behaviours become embedded.  GYST Consulting provides post-program coaching as well as offering a 2-day intensive coaching course for supervisors/leaders to build internal capability. The coaching course equips participants with core skills of coaching (e.g., building rapport, listening skills, asking effective questions etc.) and the opportunity to practice and gain “live” feedback from highly experienced GYST coaches.

Program Delivery

The content and delivery of the Care Factor Program is bespoke and relates directly to the needs of the client.  It is important that our clients get everything they need and nothing they don’t, thus maximising impact, cost effectiveness and positive outcomes for our clients.

Programs shown can be used as a complete Care Factor Program or discreet Modules can be utilised as stand-alone services or workshops.

Embedding

How we Embed Learnings and Build Internal Capability

Watch this space! We will soon be introducing a new comprehensive ‘Embedding Series’ based on consultation, the latest research and practical implementation.

Care Factor Materials: A range of mind-jogging visuals in the form of posters, worksheets and workbooks are used throughout the process and are designed to be working documents that can be applied to any emerging issues or challenges.

Care Factor Champions are identified and engaged during the rollout of the program. They are participants who have typically demonstrated strong interest, motivation, ability and genuine care for the safety and well being of their peers.  Group members will be volunteers who assist their colleagues and the wider workforce to best utilise the Care Factor principles and tools to help create and embed a lasting culture of care. Generally the Care Factor Champions will meet once per month to discuss any challenges, opportunities and new initiatives.

Care Factor Toolbox Talks: After completing the Care Factor Program, Leaders, Supervisors and Care Factor Champions sustain the key program concepts and language using the Care Factor toolbox talks, which are “bite-sized” components of the overall program that can be covered in 5 -15 minutes.

Ongoing Supports

On-going Supports - included in all site-wide rollouts

  • Expert support and consultation to Senior Leadership Team
  • Advisory service for the Care Factor Champions group
  • Care Factor Toolbox Talks supplied with ongoing support for facilitators
  • Care Factor Workplace Posters (pre-designed or bespoke)
  • Care Factor Workbooks and Worksheets (designed for live problem solving and skills intergration over the long term)

PARTICIPANT TESTIMONIAL

“This workshop very cleverly explains human nature and how it affects safety. I believe this course has completely changed my outlook on safety, as ultimately safety is your own responsibility. It has changed the way I manage myself in pressure situations and stopped me getting upset with things I cannot control. The course was excellent...”
