Care Factor Safety Program

Care Factor Senior Leadership Sessions

Our Senior Leadership Workshop provides key personnel with the core concepts and an in-depth understanding of the Care Factor Program, enabling senior staff to create psychological safety within their teams, and foster a culture where care, trust, engagement, well being and safe choices can thrive.

Care Factor Leaders and Supervisors Workshops

This workshop is designed to show safety leaders how the natural limitations of the brain contribute to risky behaviours and how normal cognitive processes often lead to complacency and unsafe behaviours.  Leaders are given the skills necessary to create a sense of Psychological safety within their teams.

It also provides leaders with an insight into what they can do to improve their people’s safety thinking and behaviours, and provides psychological tools of influence that enable them to have a positive impact on the organisation’s safety performance and culture through a focus on the Care Factor.  The workshop is bespoke and can be tailored to specific needs based on diagnostics/focus groups/pre-program discussions.

Care Factor Workforce Engagement Sessions

The Workforce Care Factor session creates a thirst – intrinsic motivation – for more conscious risk management and mindful safety behaviours as well as building a culture of positive intervention.

The fast-paced and highly engaging session highlights the natural limitations of the brain that, when left unmanaged, often lead to complacency, short cuts and other risky behaviours.  Moreover, through group discussions and practical activities, participants discover techniques to better manage these risks, and are provided with proven strategies to positively influence safety cognitions and behaviours among their teammates, as well as creating a sense of responsibility and accountability in both themselves and their peers.

The session provides the “why” behind behavioural tools (such as Personal Risk Assessments, JSAs etc.), and explains why using them as intended makes sense based on how their brains function.

Care Factor Coaching

During the diagnostic and/or workshop phases, our clients frequently identify individual, group and organisational opportunities for development.  It is through effective coaching - group or individual - that these new behaviours become embedded.  GYST Consulting provides post-program coaching as well as offering a 2-day intensive coaching course for supervisors/leaders to build internal capability. The coaching course equips participants with core skills of coaching (e.g., building rapport, listening skills, asking effective questions etc.) and the opportunity to practice and gain “live” feedback from highly experienced GYST Consulting coaches.

Program Delivery

The content and delivery of the Care Factor Program is bespoke and relates directly to the needs of the client.  It is important that our clients get everything they need and nothing they don’t, thus maximising impact, cost effectiveness and positive outcomes for our clients.

Programs shown here can be used as a complete Care Factor Program or discreet Modules can be utilised as stand-alone services or workshops.

How we Embed Learnings and Build Internal Capability

Care Factor Materials: A range of mind-jogging visuals in the form of posters, worksheets and workbooks are used throughout the process and are designed to be working documents that can be applied to any emerging issues or challenges.

Care Factor Champions are identified and engaged during the rollout of the program. They are participants who have typically demonstrated strong interest, motivation, ability and genuine care for the safety and well being of their peers.  Group members will be volunteers who assist their colleagues and the wider workforce to best utilise the Care Factor principles and tools to help create and embed a lasting culture of care. Generally the Care Factor Champions will meet once per month to discuss any challenges, opportunities and new initiatives.

Care Factor Toolbox Talks: After completing the Care Factor Program, Leaders, Supervisors and Care Factor Champions sustain the key program concepts and language using the Care Factor toolbox talks, which are “bite-sized” components of the overall program that can be covered in 5 -15 minutes.

“This workshop very cleverly explains human nature and how it affects safety. I believe this course has completely changed my outlook on safety, as ultimately safety is your own responsibility. It has changed the way I manage myself in pressure situations and stopped me getting upset with things I cannot control. The course was excellent...”

"Clive is a highly motivated and dynamic trainer. He has a deep understanding of his subject and delivers a very powerful message in an incredibly short space of time. This is probably the best training session I have ever attended and I would highly recommend Clive and GYST Consulting."

"The Care Factor Program has enabled me to be conscious of taking responsibility and understanding the how/what/why my thinking is built on. Also, that to change culture, I must empower others by asking questions and not being afraid to intervene"
